By the time Kennedy came to power, the criminal Castro's government was in complete control of Cuba, and was by any definition the government in power in that country, having ousted the criminal Batista by means as legitimate as most changes of government in Latin America at that time. You can't lose something to someone who's already got it. I'll say this gently ... don't be a sheep. Please don't always accept current and historical events at face value. The US has and still does not recognize the Cuban government. Batista was out yes, but Fidel was by no means in complete power until the Russians got in the picture.
