<Scorching to its highest close in more than three-and-a-half years, natural gas exploded in its biggest point-gain of the year. Traders bought with abandon, jacking the price up 7% after the American Gas Association reported that injections of natural gas into storage did not grow as much as expected. Gas inventories now stand 25% below levels one year ago. The market believes that this summer will be a hot one and that utilities companies will demand gas to generate electricity. Natural gas gained 10% six sessions ago, although Wednesday's point-gain was larger. >
