ATLANTA, May 24 /PRNewswire/ --American Software (Nasdaq: AMSWA - news) announced today that the Star Tribune of the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St.Paul, MN, has selected AmQUEST, Inc., American Software's wholly owned Application Infrastructure Provider (AIP) subsidiary, to provide hosting management and monitoring for their OS/390 Multiprise server. The 15th largest daily newspaper in the U.S., the Star Tribune selected AmQUEST to provide all environmental, technical, and operational support of its applications from its full-service data center in Atlanta.
``Publishers, like all CEO's, are looking to reduce costs in high budget departments- such as IT,'' said Steve Hanson, Star Tribune CIO. ``Cost reduction is only one advantage; AmQUEST has more tools, resources, and experience than we have in-house and provides an opportunity to improve our level of service.''
Economies of scale, superior monitoring tools, automation, and procedural efficiencies will allow AmQUEST to reduce Star Tribune's internal costs. AmQUEST will provide the day-to-day operations for the company's server.
``Our capabilities allow a company like Star Tribune to reduce internal costs while capitalizing on the business value and competitive advantage of managed server hosting,'' said Roger Barrios, President of AmQUEST, Inc. ``Our history of providing management and operation of complex mission-critical applications make AmQUEST an attractive hosting partner.''
