Well, if there's a lot of fear out there of not having seen enough fear, then maybe there really is enough fear. (g)
Seriously, however, perhaps the average investor personality is evolving away from the relatively ill-informed, naive, panic-stricken individual of 10 years ago. I've been investing since '62, and the 90's have struck me as a paradigm shift in comprehension of market mechanics and information availability, the latter, of course, being attributable to the internet. The point is, if fear is based primarily on lack of understanding or information, then the last 5 years must certainly be changing some of the perceptions and mis-perceptions of many small investors.
