The judge may just hint that he wants MSFT to spin off the IE browser and keep the rest as a unity, since this is the original problem. This way he will do a big favor to everyone. This might just be my wishful thinking.

It is wishful thinking, IMHO.

I think MSFT has realized that they are going to get nowhere with Jackson after really pissing him off in the last couple of years. I bet even the harsh fact finding was a way to get back at MSFT.
I just wonder how hard it would be for the appeals case to overule him on the "facts". There is even judgement in determining facts and they can conclude he erred.

I am just glad that he still takes such a hard line since it may help MSFT in appeals. It shows the possibility of bias. The appeals court judges won't say it but they will think about it---all based upon the way he carried on with the case--limiting witnesses; no break-up hearing;not allowing MSFT to present a proper defense in remedies and in fact finding.
I think the DOJ/STates got too big of a victory for it to hold up.

BTW--I don't hold MSFT shares and am just to time my purchases. The fact that it did not drop on today's news tells me that it has bottomed but I will wait until the day fo the ruling before I start buying OR I might average out my cost from tomorrow to that date.
