Margin is irrelevant. I just cited a couple of examples of friends who used margins. I could have given examples of others who have Cash accounts and are in a similar predicament.

What about you? I suppose you have a cash account and as such don't use margin. Are you saying you are not affected by the markets' downturn? How does your portfolio today compare to your portfolio say in March? If your banker asked for your Personal Balance Sheet today in order to negotiate a mortgage for a new home, do you think you stand as good a chance today at securing the loan as opposed to 3 months ago?

Maybe you should tell your banker that you own all your stocks and the $100k drop in the assets column is just temporary.
