Yes, the metals do feel lighter, if you like the feel of a heavier club a pro shop should be able match your swing weight, however I've grown accustom to metals since using one since about 1984. Yes practice will help with new clubs.

Not sure how severe you mean, I consider Calloway irons as "sharp" compared to PINGS, which I use. I do believe that most perimeter weighted clubs tend to be rounder. Most tour blades (forged) have a square look to them, but you do see a lot less forged now.
