The new economy is good jobs with good pay.

Greenspan can only tighten the monetary policy for banks. For some time now, the new economy stresses the need for profits to avoid borrowing. If you have to borrow; borrow from your customers or vendors, not from your bank. Garment districts borrow from rabbis at 30% interest and survived. The trick is to delay the payment until the last minute just before your customer pay you. 30% annual interest is just a pittance for a day or two of borrowing. Learned from the Jews.

Why good jobs with good pay will not go away? Skilled labor makes more profit for your business. Fresh labor needs training and time is money. Although lately, if you look at how supermarkets train new recruits by VCR training tape and TV, tells a whole lot about how far we come. Teenagers trained can supervise grown ups. I have seen it happen in the last year at a few supermarkets.

What is dangerous to the new economy is changing life style in the new economy. Protein diets can reduce appetite, with it reduced activity. Then the desire to buy new things is quenched. Demand side economy can go down quickly. Department stores are feeling it. What should we do?

Fortunately, protein diets are boring. All things go around. Soon, desire to have a change of diet will take us out of slow demand of merchandises. Personal experience in weight reduction put me to the wise. I am back spending again.
