Ed, this is the kind of post that tends to cause others to understand and accept your knowledge and expertise, while at the same time recognizing your tendency to irritate and antagonize.

Why not simply stop with the first part which is obviously true, and good advice? The fact of the matter is, there are always opportunities on both the long and short side, in every kind of market. Searching them out is an art and requires skill and experience. But there is no need whatsoever to denigrate those who attempt to find opportunities on the long side in a clear downtrending market.
