Ray, actually the politics of this is not OT. Mainland China is a vast market. And surely we can sell em lots of Dells and CDMA phones, etc. I reject the isolationst policies of people like Buchanan because I believe that we can change people and place by trading with them. My experience in East Germany taught me that. In terms of the markets, I think you have an excellent point about trade policy and it relationship to democratic ideals. Freedom engenders profits. This is the lesson of the post cold war era. As to our past governments, I couldnot agree more (e.g., Nixon)
