This is my take, and China is just a pawn, or i should say a run in the 7th inning, more physological, for that matter everyone can also be included.

Until the above is resolved, meaning IPR, this is the movie being played>
GSM comes out with GPRS & EDGE to comfort nervous customers, until 3G transition.
CDMA has 2000, HDR.
I really don't think IJ gives a rats a$$ if 80-90% of the world goes with DS, if and when that happens. But it will happen, and Qualcomm will be the main beneficiary.
Now the window of time is shrinking, DoCoMo & NOK want to deploy DS in the near future, but have said they want to pool IPR and Q says NO THANKS.
Now what does that tell me, it tells me the Goliath of the worlds are deathly afraid of Q, for they can't make a move without their blessing, $$$$$$.
Everything else in the form of press releases with the exception of part shortages, gov't mandates ect is FUD, some doses heavier than others.
3G will not go forward without Q in control of its own destiny, you can take that to the bank, because IJ is.
Patience is really the key for the next 6-12 months. Focus in on how the Q is surviving (not the stock price) these times of ultimate FUD and deception, i think they are doing a magnificent job under the conditions and not Selling-Out to the pressure.
They have built a nice profitable company in the face of adversity by all the PR machines at work.
Ask yourself this Question.
Why do most all the companies in this sector slam Q, or have their analyst do it like clockwork, answer, they all know exactly what they are doing, this has been rehearsed.
Bottom Line
They know Qualcomm holds all the Oscars in this movie.
