I think you have to buy a spectrum or waveband or some such nonesense to use the airwaves... unless you're a ham radio dude... which uses very low frequencies..

I think the LostDude's point is, who is it who says you have to pay for the spectrum? None other than your government. The same government that brought you Janet Reno and Joel Klein.

I have to tell you, regarding DOJ and the Microsoft case, when I was at DOJ, the Antitrust Division was a joke. They had nothing to do. This latest push by DOJ is an attempt to get some attention, respect and budget money IMVHO. The mistake Gates & Co. made was not understanding the process and not knowing who they were dealing with. If Microsoft had been more astute politically, and perhaps been willing to compromise a bit, I think this entire episode could have been headed off without litigation.
