Picked this up from Yahoo... fatbabies.com <<5/22 Mattel Buyout Fails We heard Havas Interactive was in final negotiations to buy Mattel Interactive the week before E3, but the negotiations broke down in the 11th hour. It seems that Mattel wanted to sell off everything to the French with the exception of the Mattel-branded lines (Barbie, Hot Wheels, Rock'em Sock'em), but the answer was "non" as zee Franch knew damned well that those are the only MI/TLC/SSI/Mindscape properties worth a damn. So Mattel's discontinued business unit goes back out to the street corners to look for another sucker to pick them up for the night.>> My guess is that MAT will offer some sort of exclusive license to the buyer....collect royalties/licensing fees, less the risk...and focus on core business. Will exit software biz for short time until they can get their house in order. Tom C
