Hedy Lamarr held the patents in frequency hopping wireless communications, not CDMA or WCDMA. There was rumor that her involvement in the development of the technology was more for appearances. This is not true, she was actually very knowledgeable in the area and deserved the credit. I believe that she was recognized by congress (my memory may be faulty here) for her contributions to the war effort as the technology was effective in keeping the Germans from intercepting our communications. I'll see if I can find a link.

The link that is provided in this message has the patent and a little bit of history. However, there are some gross inaccuracies as they are equating the invention with spread spectrum and they are completely different. The correct type of communications that the patent covers is "frequency hopping".
