Appointments in Alcatel's Senior Management
Paris, May 25, 2000, -- Alcatel today announced several appointments within the company's senior management.
Following the completion of the acquisition of the Newbridge company, Pearse Flynn, formerly President and Chief Operating Officer of Newbridge, has been appointed President of Alcatel's Carrier Networking Group. In his new role, Pearse will lead Alcatel's networking and internetworking activities aimed at the carrier market. He will join Alcatel's Executive Committee.
Christian Reinaudo, President of Alcatel's Optics Group and Ron Spithill, President of Alcatel Asia Pacific, will also join Alcatel's Executive Committee.
Following recent initiatives by key carrier customers to concentrate their Central and South American operations in Miami, Alcatel will relocate the supervision of its South American operations to Miami. They will become part of a new organization named Alcatel Americas, which will include Alcatel USA, Alcatel Latin America and Alcatel Canada. Newbridge Networks will, in due course, cluster all Alcatel operations in Canada into the new Alcatel Canada.

With today's appointments, Alcatel's Executive Committee has been expanded. Alcatel's senior management, including Serge Tchuruk, Chairman and CEO, Jean Pierre Halbron, President and Chief Financial Officer and Krish Prabhu, Chief Operating Officer of Alcatel and CEO Alcatel Americas, is now seconded by the following Executive Committee members:

The Telecom Components and Energy Cables will continue to report to G‚rard Hauser, untill the projected IPO of the cable business is successfully completed. G‚rard Hauser will be proposed as the CEO of the new Cables Company.
