And just a short distance away is another emerging deposit. Is the market snoozing through the development of a major open pit operation (Tabakoto and Segala)?:
Semafo's drills turn in Mali 05/25/2000
Semafo (SMF-T) has begun a drilling program on the Segala gold concession in western Mali.
A program of 8,000 metres of reverse circulation (RC) drilling and 3,900 metres of diamond drilling targets the Main, NW, Dar Salam and Moralia areas of the concession. The program also includes detailed geological and structural mapping, trenching, geochemical sampling and ground geophysics. All of the areas have seen intense activity in ancient and recent times. Some new targets identified by Semafo will also be explored.
The program aims at:
testing the open-pittable resource of previously outlined shallow deposits; testing deep, high-grade zones of the Main orebody; and RC drill-testing geophysical anomalies.
In January, Semafo acquired a 75% stake in the Segala concession from Oliver Gold (OGO-V).
Oliver has reported a global geological resource, including both oxide and sulphide ores from all of the zones, of 15.4 million tonnes grading 2.75 grams gold per tonne. This estimation was based on 69 diamond drill holes and 291 RC holes. |
