Joe,

Tom bias is based on price/performance. I think that is very clear.

My impression is that Tom's bias is based on his perception that Intel is trying to ram the 'bus down the industry's throat, not the technology. In fact, his exact quote (in the sidebar) is "However, I doubt that the majority is aware of what's really behind Intel's urge of pushing RDRAM at all costs, and how Rambus is using backdoor tactics to make sure that RDRAM is pushed up the behind of us PC users." The entire article talks about the "tactics" that Rambus is using to get companies to support their product (shame, shame on Rambus for actually trying to be successful in their business!).

Tom's aversion to Intel/Rambus has to make you ask yourself "gee, I wonder if he did a fair job of configuring the systems to present the best possible results for each technology?" His comments about his dislike for the Rambus company/technology would lead me to believe that he might not be fair to the RDRAM systems. And that is reinforced by the fact that we have benchmarks from a variety of sources that indicate the reverse of Tom's results (I think jim kelley posted a list of 10 or so different benchmark results that were much more favorable to Intel/820/RDRAM).
