Tony,
Just thinking out loud. I've been buying a company called SanDisk (SNDK), and I think it might be an interesting acquisition for Intel. They make high density flash cards for digital cameras, MP3 players, and soon PDA's and cell phones (as opposed to Intel which makes low density embedded flash). They are fabless (though they just announced a JV fab with Toshiba), and they have process and product patents. The industry segment is seeing strong growth, and is capacity constrained.
As I've gotten to know this company better, it seem like a good fit for Intel. Intel's R&D and fab expertise could really benefit SanDisk, make them the undisputed leader. Unlike some of their other acquisitions, Sandisk has good GM's, probably wouldn't be dilutive to earnings. With Intel's movement into the cell phone and PDA arena with Strongarm chips, there might be some synergies there as a more significant supplier to the segments.
Just a thought, and I wonder what others think.
