I wouldnt' get to hung up about an accademic study. There was a Goldman Sachs study that analyzed stock mkt performance in the 80's and the results were that earnings and interest rates were not the main reason for the stock performance but rather merger, acquisitions and overly optomistic expectations. It seems that one can prove whatever they want in these studies. I'm sure if Barrons dug hard enough they could have found a study showing the reverse of the results of the Harvard study
