prophet,

While I generally agree with everything you said I have a problem with your Werner von Braun attribution. Although he spent time during WW2 working on German V1's & 2's and on the US Space program after the war, he didn't invent rockets. I believe it was the Chinese - centuries ago - who did. FYI, in the USA, Robert Goddard was an earlier experimenter with rockets.

NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center is named for him.

b. Oct. 5, 1882, Worcester, Mass., U.S.
d. Aug. 10, 1945, Baltimore

American professor and inventor generally acknowledged to be the father of modern rocketry. He published his classic treatise, A Method of Reaching Extreme Altitudes, in 1919.
