no, i think it's only the market participants emotions that are important in this respect. a high level of fear or bearishness indicates that most sellers have sold, and the market has once again room to run as the supply issue is resolved for the short term.

once fear about a stock market drop grips the population at large, it must be a really bad one imo...probably as a precursor, or coincident with a recession.
