I'm sure that we both agree that Greenspan's rate hikes have no impact on oil prices as these are dictated by a cartel.

As you suggested, the cost of fuel is largely contributing to rising prices. UPS increased its rates to account for the extra cost. Airfares have also increased directly because of fuel costs.

Since we both agree that higher interest rates do not necessarily bring down fuel costs, then I suggest to you that Greenspan is attacking the symptoms but not the disease. An alternative solution might be to release some of America's oil reserves to increase the supply of fuel as a counter-measure to OPEC. Another alternative is in investing in companies such as Ballard Power Systems which is developing fuel cells for vehicles.

Our economy should not be held hostage by OPEC .
