i have little doubt that rallies will more or less be bear rallies. however, i have quite a few beaten down stocks in areas that have been shunned for quite some time now, and they all perform quite well lately. it seems that money is increasingly rotating into the 'safe' cheap stocks.
the big caps with their enormous p/e's are imo being propped up by the large funds that have big positions in them and can't afford to let them come down. the whole industry is probably scared we might get a bear market. the '74 bear more or less destroyed the mutual fund industry for years.
did you see Fleck's rap? people have now begun to argue that there simply is no such thing as a bear market anymore. UFB...
a few years back, before the mania took off and the current bubble casino was established, most people still viewed it as a part of investment life that there would be bear markets now and then. it was regarded as natural and inevitable.
the current state of delusion reminds me very much of the tail end of other secular bulls. don't they realize that the bear markets following secular bull markets are usually the worst?
