Some research that I've been doing suggests that a capitulation phase characterizes a bull market correction, not a cyclical bear market. We're all used to the wide range, high volume day that cleans out the sellers so we expect that to happen at the end of this decline. But the more likely scenario grinds out most of the move on low volume and extended basing before it heals enough start a substantial rally.
