James, I do not know. Nobody has suggested that ONI has any
capability which Nortel does not have. ONI has been sued by Nortel for patent infringement. The allegation is that ONI has copied their optical transport system. Juniper is a good company with a great product but I believe an acquisition of ONI will give them great headaches. Nortel has an integrated suite of products - optical transport, routers, network management etc. Merging a router company with an optical transport company does not automatically give one an integrated product. This proposal would seem to create more anxiety at Cisco than it does at Nortel. All just my opinion which is somewhat biased because I am long on Nortel.
