Some percolations on a few subjects --

1. The re-posting of our types/responses is good. At some point we should see if the SI admin agrees to them. I would like to see them, or a acceptably modified version, appear as a page link like the 'Terms of Use' in the lower left corner of your screen. If a person is in some doubt about how to respond, this handy guide is one click away.

2. I've probably been watching far too many Oli Stone movies, but I think a connection exists between the Mary of last week and the LizMonster....and perhaps (but less obviously) the Joannie 'southern belle' character. They all were antagonists that quickly appeared out of nowhere, Liz and Mary in particular wanted nothing more than to pick a profanity fight. The campy broken 'Pidgin' English typing went a little far.

Let me qualify that -- in between '88 and '94 I lived exclusively with Asian immigrant families, in their homes, as an English tutor. It was a pretty extreme cultural immersion living with a Vietnamese family in the heart of 'Little Saigon', Orange County CA, with a Chinese family in Monterey Park (sometimes called a 'Chinese Beverly Hills'), to name a few. Looking back at my pupils work, I think Liz and Mary were trying very hard to fulfill a stereotype. And it's easier for me to swallow that one person instead of two indpendents would be 'kooky' enough for this.

But I also wonder who was on the grassy knoll, so take it FWIW.
