Stars & dogs: Who's hot? Jim Buckee - Globe & Mail, Saturday

A selection of this week's winners and losers compiled by Andrew Bell

Jim Buckee
A few months ago, it seemed as though saintly Jim was doomed to be a corporate martyr. Shares in his Talisman Energy were fragmentation-bombed by absurd claims that the company is helping to pay for a brutal war in Sudan. But gentle nurturing Jim moved quickly and firmly to ensure that no harm was done -- by hiring big slick PR firm Hill and Knowlton.

Talisman stock's up 40 per cent this year as caring humanitarian investors look into their hearts and remember that only one precious commodity is truly irreplaceable: Oil.
