bambs,

I appreciate your concern relating to those individuals who have purchased stock at very high costs. However, I think we will all agree that the value of the stock market will be higher at some point in the future. Where and when we don't know. The longer time period we have the better the odds that the market will rise. The younger we are the more we should invest in stocks. If we are nearing retirement age, the less we should have in stocks. I think any broker will agree to the above remarks. Personally, I have invested in stocks that are leaders in their field. Cisco, Oracle and Sun Microsystems have provided outstanding returns. I was fortunate to have invested early and have had many ups and downs but during this period have had many splits and thus, my cost basis is low. My whole point is, I have held long and would not have had the increase in shares if I had bought and sold, bought and sold, etc. I have also had no commissions and no taxes to pay. Eventually, Uncle Sam will get his share but in the meantime the value of my portfolio increases. I do not begrudge daytraders efforts to make money and I realize that many are successful but for every one that shows a daily plus there are 10 that bite the bullet. You seem to be one of the lucky ones so count your blessings. I think the thread does appreciate your thoughts on the market and you do seem to have a pretty good grasp of what is going on. However, you sometimes come across as one who loves to flaunt your success and yell that doomsday is coming for Cisco. Cisco may drop to new lows but with time will rise to new highs, when?, if I knew we could all get rich......best wishes to your trading...........
