Actually, I think that one of the things that strikes me as "funny" about a lot of botanists, toxicologists, entomologists, that I've spoken to is that they are so "into" what they do that you sometimes have to wonder just where they're coming from when they start telling you about how spectacular the stings or bites of a certain insect are, or how horrible the toxic effect of a certain mushroom or plant is. They make it all sound so damned exciting that it seems like an accomplishment of epic proportions... and I suppose it is when you start looking at things from an evolutionary standpoint.... especially to someone who spends a lifetime studying a particular entity.
