this is one of the most annoying (sometimes amusing if you think about it later when it's not happening) things...

have you ever tried to highlight text in order to copy and paste, and you want to highlight down below the current page view? perhaps you need just six more lines beyond what is visible. just as you begin to scroll down, the whole darn thing fast forwards like crazy and suddenly in the blink of an eye, you've highlighted the whole page! so you try going back up and bam! the same thing happens in reverse and now you're at the beginning of the page, wondering what the heck you're going to do. what's up with that, anyway? <g3>

here's something that will help. the key, i suppose, will be hanging on to this tip until the next time you need it.

*******************

"Controlling Rate of Scroll When Selecting Text That Extends Beyond Current Screen:

Place the mouse pointer at the beginning of the text that you wish to select and click once. Then hold down the shift key and press the end key. That will select the entire line. Now while still holding down the shift key, use the direction key with the downward pointing arrow to select additional lines of text."

this seems to happen in ms word documents more than any place else. i just opened one and tried this tip. it works great.

:)
