Actually, chalu, this is not true in the sense you're presenting it ... as i understand it [and i've only recently begun to look into it] there are internet connections, but only in ministerios and libraries and the like ... it's all quite controlled, and while unspoken everyone knows that the Seguridad is quite capable of tracing to the sender/recipient anything they don't like ... the lack of widespread availability of net connections is beyond that explained by the poverty [although that is a factor, for sure], as quite relatively poor people in nearby latino nations are on the net, which is growing faster in Iberoam‚rica than anywhere else .... lots on the net on this - cnnenespanol.com

The culture of extreme freedom of speech with which we associate the net does not exist in Cuba, and won't under Castro, imho ... unless he woke up ... but don't hold your breath on that.
