>>In fact, we do not know for sure that Reno even bothered with getting a warrant in the first place, since it was not served, as required by law and as mandated in the warrant itself, when the federal agents barged into the Gonzalez home, and was not produced for Elian's attorneys and the press until two days after the raid. In press statements immediately after the assault, Assistant Attorney General Eric Holder and other Clinton spokesmen stated that they hadn?t needed a warrant for the raid, that they were operating under the authority of INS powers. <<

What if they had gotten a Court order, and went in on notice to enforce it? Would they have met armed resistance from the crowd? Someone in the crowd? People in Florida have guns coming out the kazoo. Even 13 year olds have the means handy to shoot their teachers there.

I think what was done was necessary to avoid many injuries and the loss of innocent lives. Dershowitz was never in Vietnam, never a police officer, couldn't be paid enough to risk his life for anyone. He pontificates from a comfy armchair. Let him go in with a Court order to get Elian.

It's so easy to risk other people's lives when we don't have to face the widows and children, isn't it?
