1.5 GHz Thunderbird June 5?
Reported by: Jeff Tom At: 6:21 PM Source: e-mail
Thanks to Paul Sundling for sending news that Silicon Investor AMD section has a post about 1.5GHz Thunderbird on June 5. Also chaudi sends word that the poster states that the poster says their will be a significant change to the announcement. As always, take a post like this with a grain of salt. You may want to use a translator. Here's a snip:
I'm a long-time lurker of the AMD thread at Silicon Investor from Germany.
I enjoy the thread and the information there very much. Because I don't have an account I'd like you to pass the following, very interesting information to the thread. If they are true it would be really sensational...
The news are from a similar AMD thread at Wallstreet-Online (a German stocks site). You can found the thread at: (just use a translator like Babelfish)http://www.wallstreetonline.de/community/board2/ws/thread/14...

You'll also find the particular message enclosed (in German, see below).
The information ist confirmed by two different sources at FAB30 and although it sounds unbelievable here's a summary of the most important points:

Wafers: Currently 800 per week, ca. 200 CPUs per wafer
- Thunderbird: Production at 1,5 GHz(!) since April in limited quantities, since May in normal quantities. Official introduction on June, 5th at Dredsen on a big press-event. The 1,5 GHz Thunderbird has already be sold
to major OEMs. Samples of Thunderbirds > 1,5 GHz were also already produced. Sledgehammer: First production-samples are expected at year's end at130nm. Starting frequency will be over 1,5 GHz.
Yiels: Currently ca. 70% at 1,5 GHz(!). Because of these high yields Motorola has made AMD an offer to produce G4s for Apple in Dresden but AMD expects the fab to be 100% utilized for Athlons processors.

Kind regards,
