Does Matt as an attorney on record collecting money (I?m just assuming he was the attorney) for this fundraising have the records? He would also be obligated by law to turn over any information regarding misuse of funds. The money legally would be held in a separate Account established for this purpose. The money collected would not be able to be mingled with personal funds. Tony BY LAW would not be able to Deposit check made out to Mother Terresa organization in his personal accounts.

California has enacted many statutes that promote informed charitable giving. In 1959, California enacted the "Uniform Supervision of Trustees for Charitable Purposes Act" (Calif. Government Code õõ12580 et seq.). This law requires most charities operating in California to register with the Attorney General and file annual financial reports listing revenues and expenditures. These reports are used by the Attorney General to investigate and litigate cases of charity fraud and mismanagement by trustees and directors of charities. These reports are also available for public review at the Registry of Charitable Trusts in Sacramento or at the charity's principal office
