Jozef - RE: 1.5GHz Athlon

1.5Ghz Athlon in June sure would be good, but it seems TOO good to be true... Even if they DO have these coming off the line (which I don't know it they are even capable of in .18 copper), it is too big of a marketing jump from the current max, 1GHz. Again, if they are capable of this, this is 50% higher than anything on the market, and to be able to release this AMD would have to come out with 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4GHz (or the 266MHz fsb equivalent) at the same time. For this to happen, the price of MHz Athlons would have to be cut in half, and Dresden is just getting ramped up - it can't carry the load all by itself in June, when production revenue finally begins.

Remember, Jerry says "bragging right are good, but revenue rights are better".

I'm happy with 1.1GHz in June or early Q3 and 1.5Ghz in January 2001. Everything thing else greater than that, assuming it comes out in volume, is icing on the cake.
