Paul,

Both WIND and ELON are in the Value Line Expanded Edition.

WIND (Wind River) carries a performance ranking of 3 (market average), a safety ranking of 4 (below market average), and a financial rating of B (above average).

ELON (Echelon) carries a performance ranking of 1 (best; superior to market), however carries no safety ranking at all, and has no financial rating.

Both of these stocks might be considered speculative investments IMO. Unless you're already intimately familiar with the companies, given that current general market conditions are volatile & well below average volumes, an aggressive position in either stock would likely carry a higher-than-normal risk right now (again, IMO).

As you probably know, Value Line provides timeliness ratings only for the 1700 stocks in the Standard Edition. The Expanded Edition (currently about 6500 stocks, including the Standard Edition) provides for a performance rating which is based on external market analysis. Value Line provides no analyst coverage for the stocks in the Expanded Edition.

Good luck to you. BTW, I've bookmarked this thread. I currently subscribe to the Value Line Expanded Edition (the CD-ROM version, not the print edition), and I consider it the single best investment tool that I use.

KJC

PS - Both WIND and ELON are also covered in VectorVest's product. VV currently carries a "SELL" rating on both stocks. (But what do they know? <g>)
