The best is yet to come when they've been delivering chips for a year and have had some time to tweak and toy with the process

I think AMD has been tweaking the Dresden process for a while now. They have not been in any hurry to start repaying the construction loans and Fab25 has been producing sufficient "classic Athlon" to seed the market.

The Athlon brand has now achieved the acceptance needed for real volume sales of Duron and Tbird. This is the moment to exploit the Dresden capacity.

We often talk about Intel dropping the ball, but let's also give credit where it is due. AMD's timing on this has been truly superb.
