[Buy-out speculation]

<<<Concerning potential buyout, can AMTX hold off a potential takeover because Cioffi "owns" intellectual property? >>>

I thought this gave him power but I don't know to what extent if the board wants to accept an offer. I'm with you in hoping we stay independent. Where Cisco can grow 60, 70, 80% per year, Amati has the potential to grow 100% and more. Dataquest says CAGR of 166% for the first five years.

I do know we need a datacommunications partner and Cisco will most likely be it.

Changing subjects, it's going to get rough next week if Cisco announces something with ADI. I've been told by someone outside the company that this is likely and that it's for a division of Cisco that needs a chip *now.* It has nothing to do with what they're doing with AMTX/GTE and I imagine it's similar to Nortel's using Amati's Overture 8 for one division while the major alliance is with Westell. Nortel had a need and Amati filled it. Period. The Street didn't blow a gasket when they found out Amati's modems were being used, but I can be pretty sure they'll blow one if they hear ADI's got something going with Cisco.

I'll know more on Monday and will post then. Right now it's still speculation.

Cheers!

Pat
