It's a tough call...but here's what I see:

1. smart, patient money on the sidelines waiting for an entry

2. shorts don't see a reason to cover yet

3. longs continue to sell out of the rallies

4. the economy is finally starting to show signs of slowing

If the market starts to show signs of improvement, the patient cash will start snatching up 'deals'. As that happens, the shorts will start doing their share (taking profits) and longs will become more committed to their purchases...all contributing to a decent rally aver the short term.

Time will tell...
