MM, the heart of Qualcomm's Gorillahood is its patented discontinuous innovation - cdma. It has proven itself capable of providing benefits for carriers and subs far beyond the abilities of tdma and gsm. That's a sweeping statement, but since you have been following Q for longer than I, it doesn't seem necessary to go into specifics. Further, based on credible expert testimony, it appears that hdr will provide even greater benefits when compared to wcdma, and it's significant to note that Q has huge lead over their potential competition. Hdr is proven viable based on several public demonstrations and carrier tests, while wcdma is still in the lab experiment and press release phase.

Qualcomm is currently in the cdma Tornado, with sub rates growing >100% YOY, though slowing as of late. Imo, HDR will have additive Tornado impact for this young Gorilla and will propel it to new heights of valuation.

The error is in expecting to see this happen until earnings reports begin to reflect Tornado topline and net income growth. I don't expect much from Q between quarterly reports.
