Elastic Networks Launches Technology Partner Program

Driving next-generation high-speed networks
Atlanta, GA - May 23, 2000 ? Today Elastic Networks announced the launch of its new Technology Partner
Program, a product development and certification initiative for equipment manufacturers and system
developers. The program is designed to increase the flexibility of high-speed network architectures by
encouraging multi-sourcing of EtherLoop? technology while combining best-of-breed network elements.
The Technology Partner Program offers two product certifications: EtherLoop Enabled, for products that
utilize embedded EtherLoop technology; and EtherLoop Compatible, for "best-of-breed" products that are
interoperable with EtherLoop technology. To earn certification, products are tested and validated in Elastic
Networks' or partners' labs to meet stringent performance standards.
Under the EtherLoop Enabled program, manufacturers and developers receive product developer kits that
include hardware reference designs, firmware, and engineering documentation. Technology partners can
also take advantage of Elastic Networks branding through the use of program logos on products,
packaging, advertising, and Web sites. In addition, technology partners are eligible for co-marketing
opportunities and Elastic Networks sponsored product promotions.
"The rapid adoption of our next-generation DSL technology in the marketplace has created a strong
demand for EtherLoop inter-working and compatibility," said Michael VanPatten, senior vice president of
product marketing for Elastic Networks. "The Technology Partner Program provides a structure for
responding to this demand. The EtherLoop Enabled certification program creates a competitive
environment from which service providers can source a rich variety of EtherLoop based products, while the
EtherLoop Compatible certification program allows Elastic to provide an end-to-end network product line
to our customers."

Teledex?, a provider of hotel guest room telephones and communication products with an
installed base of more than 4 million telephones worldwide, has partnered with Elastic Networks
to integrate EtherLoop DSL technology into the Teledex TeamNet? adjunct.
Amplify.net? is a leading developer and marketer of broadband access enabling solutions that
provide multi-service subscriber provisioning, guaranteed class of service, traffic shaping, data
warehousing and usage billing and analysis. Amplify has teamed with Elastic Networks in the
development of a new IP Services system.
Network Peripherals, Inc.? (NPI) has agreed to provide Elastic with their layer 3 switching
solutions "Powered by NuWaveArchitecture." This offers Elastic Networks integrated switching,
routing, and WAN interface capabilities, including the ability to support network priority dependent
services such as video on demand and IP multi-casting.
Elastic Networks has partnered with TeleMatrix?, a cutting-edge supplier of in-room
telecommunications equipment for the hospitality industry, to integrate Elastic Networks'
high-speed Internet access technology into their line of phones and other in-room guest interface
product solutions.
Elastic Networks and Penguin Computing Inc?., a designer and developer of Linux-based
computing systems for enterprise and carrier markets, have partnered to develop Penguin's
Linux-based servers as a host platform for a variety of current and future software applications.
IONA Technologies? is providing its Orbix 2000?, the standards-based e-business infrastructure
of its enterprise portal solution, the iPortal Suite?, as the architectural basis for Elastic Networks'
next-generation of YesWare Internet access applications. CORBA-compliant YesWare applications
built on Orbix 2000 will enable service providers to offer access solutions to many sites from
central locations.
Nortel Networks? has announced the use of Elastic Networks' EtherLoop as enabling technology
as a part of Nortel's end-to-end optical Ethernet solutions that deliver seamless connection from
the core network to the desktop, exclusively using Ethernet protocol.
