Some factoids from that article that should help brighten the day for NTAP holders
1)Disk drive storage storage costs have declined by a factor of 86 since 1991
2)Disk drive storage capacity has increased by a factor of 18 since 1991
3)More storage capacity was sold in 1999 than in all prior years combined
4)NAS is expected to grow over 77% annually over the next few years
5) More than half of all general purpose servers sold today are used only for file sharing, a task that can be done better and cheaper by NAS
The article also stated that NTAP now controls 60% of the market for NAS.
I was particularly struck by how many servers being sold are used only for data storage, so NTAP still has plenty of potential growth from replacing demand for general purpose servers as well as the overall growth of storage needs. Together this should exceed 100% annually for at least a few years, IMHO.
