Hitachi, Trans Cosmos Tie Up To Provide Net Services

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Hitachi Ltd. (6501) and Trans
Cosmos Inc. (9715) have signed an agreement to team up
in Internet business operations, they said Tuesday.

This is the first business collaboration between Hitachi, a
major electronics maker, and Trans Cosmos, a relatively
new information technology provider.

Hitachi and Trans Cosmos will together provide Internet
business firms with consultation and system integration
services and will also provide Internet solutions for other
business operations, such as back-office systems.

They will also develop a new Web business model and an
electronic market place, the companies said.

Hitachi and Trans Cosmos will later extent their collaboration
to include the incubation of promising Internet ventures, they
said.

Under the agreement, Hitachi will take advantage of Trans
Cosmos's know-how in running business-to-consumer
electronic commerce business, as well as its worldwide
network of Internet business partners.

On the other hand, Trans Cosmos will take advantage of
Hitachi's expertise in business-to-business e-commerce
operations and large-scale system construction.

Hitachi and Trans Cosmos will set up eight bases for their
consultation and demonstration services, as they aim to
develop their Internet business services nationwide, they
said.
