Vodafone Sees Verizon IPO in 2000 LONDON (Reuters) - Vodafone Airtouch Plc on Tuesday said the initial public offering (IPO) of its U.S. mobile joint venture Verizon was likely to take place during 2000. Chief Executive Chris Gent told a press briefing the IPO of the joint venture with Bell Atlantic Corp. would take place this financial year and quite probably 2000. The proceeds would finance bids for new licenses in the United States, he said. Verizon has 24 million customers, twice as many as AT&T Wireless, which floated in April. The $10.62 billion IPO was the biggest ever in the United States.
