The distinction between Globalstar and China story as opposed to Q's IPR rights in DS CDMA is that one can be objectively determined whereas the others involve business judgments and stories which, in my opinion, are not yet resolved.

If a leading scientist like Dr. J. tells me that the Q has essential IPR in DS CDMA and that there is no reasonable migration from GSM to 3G DS CDMA, his statements come in garbed with the highest credibility. Nevertheless, I'm too skeptical to fully swallow anyone's potions. I've yet to see anything that convinces me otherwise but I am willing to listen.

The fact that Nokia and others are presumably selling dual mode systems doesn't yet do it for me because the IPR issue has not yet been resolved. If the Q were agreeable to pooling, then I would question Dr. J.'s statements. The unvarying stance on the issue tells me that the Q has a lot of confidence in its position. Ericsson certainly agrees with it and so does Motorola.
