ATLANTA, May 30 (Reuters) - Television set-top box maker
Scientific-Atlanta Inc. (NYSE:SFA - news) said Tuesday that it
will supply Adelphia Communications Corp.(NasdaqNM:ADLA - news) with $550 million worth of
digital interactive set-top products to help Adelphia accelerate its rollout of digital interactive
services.

The company will supply Adelphia with 1.6 million of its flagship Explorer 3000 digital interactive
set-tops and 40 digital headends by the end of 2001 and 250,000 cable modems by the end of
2002.

Separately, Scientific-Atlanta said it plans for a major increase in manufacturing capacity enabling a
total production capability of 5.2 million of its flagship Explorer set-tops per year beginning in
January 2001 to meet the demand for the digital interactive set-tops, which are being deployed by
cable operators into consumer homes. The plans represent the company's fourth major expansion of
production capacity.

Shares of Scientific-Atlanta rallied 4-1/2 to 55-5/16 in early trading on the New York Stock
Exchange. Adelphia shares gained 1-5/16 at 40-5/16 in early trading.
