Taiwan:No Fin Damage From Fire At Advanced Semicon Plant TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--A fire broke out at Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc.'s (Q.ASE) facilities in southern Taiwan Tuesday, but was quickly extinguished and caused no financial losses, the world's second largest independent chip packager said in a press release. One worker was slightly injured after a tank for processing waste gas outside the plant caught fire during welding work, but the fire was put out within 10 minutes, according to the release. Since the fire didn't occur inside the plant, there was no disruption to operations, it added. The accident happened at 0430 GMT (12:30 a.m. EDT) after the local stock market had closed.
