DELL WANTED K6'S!
Acording to the amd zone, Salomon Smith Barney says Dell asked for and was turned down by AMD for an order of K6's!!!
This means the iron wall is no more! Maybe Dell will announce a Duron system at roleout?

We visited Advanced Micro#(AMD, 1S, $84) last Friday, and despite some recent hedge fund speculation, we found the company more upbeat than ever. AMD believes it is making inroads on Intel, partly because of the latter's missteps, with a delayed ramp of Coppermine, Rambus chipset problems, and what they say (unconfirmed) are possible pushouts of the Willamette, due in Q4. "We can't be complacent," one AMD executive said with a hint of irony, "They (Intel) are not going to slip up all the time." Evidently they are talking with Dell on a daily basis, and have turned the company down on providing it with K6-2s, a product that is gradually being phased out from the desktop. The ramp at Dresden continues to exceed the company's expectations, with yields typically running higher than at Austin. Demand for the K6 is also running ahead.
