AMD and Dell talk all the time. The K6-2 on the desktop is going to be phased out. Dell likes to offer leading edge technology first. A couple months ago there were rumors Dell was buying a bunch of Durons (spitfires). If this is true, I suspect we will know on or near the launch date of the Duron. Either AMD or Dell could have suggested Dell wait for Duron or T-bird if true. Remember also that with Dresden coming on line AMDs capacity increases greatly so the decision could have been make to wait for the Duron or T-bird for the reason on getting in on an upramp rather than a downramp.
