Auto Companies Agree On Internet Lead Spec
Trying to simplify application development for online auto purchases, more than a dozen companies have agreed on a standard for passing computer sales leads to automotive dealerships. The final version of the Auto Lead Data Format, an XML-based specification for passing consumer e-mail and purchase requests to auto dealerships, was announced Tuesday by automotive and e-commerce companies. Participating companies include AutoNation, AutoTrader.com, Autoweb.com, cars.com, The Cobalt Group, Digital Motorworks, Ford, Kelley Blue Book, priceline.com, Auto Services, Trilogy Software, StoneAge.com, TraderOnline.com, and Yahoo Autos.
